Open Day Soon!

Our Open Day is upon us soon, Saturday 16th April 10am till 4pm at Keyte Smith Ltd, Byron Avenue, Lowmoor Road, Kirkby in Ashfield NG17 7LA.  Our smokebox has been rubbed down ready for a coat of black heat-resistant paint before being mounted back on the frames. Hopefully the left side coupling rod splasher, main splasher and lower cab side can all be fitted for the occasion.

It has been a busy time, with the Hengist/B17 Open Day followed by a meeting of the invaluable Main Line Steam Builders Group, and the LNWR Society’s Waverley Gathering last Saturday.

Tomorrow there is a visit to one of our suppliers to ensure we all read from the same hymn book.  Then it’s back to cylinder design, a big job that will take some time.

It all brings closer the day when the first fire is lit in No. 2013 Prince George!
