Front Frame Plates Delivered
Goodman Metals of Nottingham have delivered our front frame plates drilled ready to assemble on to the main plates. They are stored flat lying alongside our locomotive in its tent. The parts on the left leaning against the locomotive are from the “piano front” in front of the smokebox, so stripping down the locomotive has started in a small way. We plan to choose a good day and strip it in one go.
Other preparations include a large torque wrench delivered last week. We managed to save several hundred pounds on this tool by shopping around. It will ensure that bolts are tightened to the specified degree. Fasteners are ordered, with one more small batch to order. We are seeking prices for brake hanger pivots, the last items needed for first stage frame assembly.
