Christmas Gift

Thanks to the generosity of author David Knapman as the Trust was delighted to receive an unusual Christmas gift, comprising 11 prints of locomotive general arrangements from contemporary issues of the trade magazine “Engineering”.  The subjects range from North London Railway 4-4-0T and 0-6-0 through most of the Webb three-cylinder compounds, the four cylinder compound “Black Prince”, through to Cooke’s 4-6-2T and Claughton, and finally a North British drawing of the Royal Scot.

David’s books are listed on the Pen and Sword website.  His next book is due shortly, keep an eye out.

We will be checking whether these drawings are already on the LNWR Society archive, and arranging scanning of those not already there.  After ensuring they are all available in digital form we will consider how best to use them to raise funds for the Trust,

For the time being we must prioritise work on our move from Crewe Heritage Centre.  While we will be sorry to leave, we need to be able to work on building the locomotive.  Great things are afoot, expect exciting news soon!
